Gun Control Pros and Cons in the United States - 2511 Words

The debate over gun control has been raging through the American political systems for years. On one side, there is the National Rifle Association (NRA) and 2nd Amendment-citing citizens who use their firearms for hunting and self-defense. On the other, there is Handgun Control Inc. (HCI) and followers of the Brady Campaign who want to ban guns on the basis that they are dangerous. Both sides have strong arguments, anchored in historical precedent and statistical analysis. Anti-gun control lobbyists’ arguments include the guarantee of the 2nd Amendment, the definition of â€Å"militia† as any adult male, self-defense, the relative uselessness of permits and regulations, and court cases in favor of firearm possession. Pro-gun control activists†¦show more content†¦At the time of the Bill of Rights’ ratification, the United States had only just broken free of the Articles of Confederacy, a document intended to create a loose union with the individual state s holding all the power. In order to garner more support for the Constitution, the 2nd Amendment was added in to protect the states’ rights to their own armed forces—a right which is of little importance in the 21st century. Because of the strength of these arguments, pro-gun control advocates point to the historical context in which the 2nd Amendment was written in order to justify stricter laws. Expanding upon the wording in the 2nd Amendment, anti-gun control proponents argue that the definition of â€Å"militia† is not limited to an armed force under direct control of the state or federal government. Charles Heston, president of the NRA, cites US Code Title 10, Section 311, stating that the recognized legal definition of militia is that â€Å"the ‘militia’ is made up of two complementary bodies: the ‘organized militia,’ which is the National Guard; and the ‘unorganized militia,’ which is every male citizen between ages 17 and 45† (Heston). Under this expanded definition of militia, every legal male of the accepted age has the right to bear arms under United States law. Some gun rights advocates further expand this right to beShow MoreRelatedThe Pros and Cons of Gun Control in the United States Essay1306 Words   |  6 PagesGun control is a growing issue as of late, due to recent events such as school shootings as well as crimes which are committed daily due to gun violence the issue has been more controversial than ever before. How Does the Use of Setting and Imagery Affect the...

Introduction Robert Louis Stephensons masterpiece, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) symbolizes Hyde as a representative of the specific Victorian anxieties. He is seen as the ugly, deformed, apelike, but also reflecting Victorian fears about Darwinian evolution theories of humanitys deform from ape, and fears the newly enfranchised working classes. This essay will explore the function of the narrative which helps the readers to perceive the meaning of the narrative. It will do so in terms of the point of view, narrative voice as well as the structure of the narrative. Furthermore, the setting of the story will be another focus which exploits the generic convention which reflects the social anxiety behind the story at the time. I†¦show more content†¦Dr. Paul Dawson once states in the lecture, Gothic fiction explores and dramatizes the contemporaneous to cultural anxieties, in effect to resonate readers. Stevenson symbolically exploits and sublimated fiction forms the board fears of the whole society. Abrams suggests that gothic fiction often refers to its setting in a catholic country, especially Italy or span. The locale was usually a gloomy castle furnished with surgeons, subterranean passages, and sliding panel. However, the setting of the novella is considered to be disrupted against the traditional convention of t he gothic genre, where it is based in the late Victorian London city. Stevenson suggests the sense of fear and cultural anxieties of late Victorian England through depiction of the unreal city, in particular, fog in the novella. The fog has gripped London, and it swirls and eddies through the gloomy neighborhoods, describing them seem like a district of some city in a nightmare. Stevenson shape an eerie aura through portrayals of the great chocolate-coloured pall lowered over heaven ... here it would be dark like the back-end of evening; and there would be a glow of a rich, lurid brown ... and here ... a haggard shaft of daylight would glance in between the swirling wreaths. The haggard and swirling fog and somber hues combine to form a murkiness that displays

Introduction to Nanotechnology Free Essays

1. 0INTRODUCTION The objective of this study is to research and discover the development, characterization, and function of nanotechnologies in the globe in the present and future. In this study, we will defined the basis of nanotechnologies in wide spectrum such as the advantages, disadvantages, background, history, future investigation, society, ethic, environment and many more. We will write a custom essay sample on Introduction to Nanotechnology or any similar topic only for you Order Now Furthermore, our group would also like to emphasize on the significant cause and effect of nanotechnologies toward the advancement of human civilization in the recent time and toward the future. In addition, create awareness and wide perspective view toward engaging main issues such as moral ethical in our society. 2. 0BACKGROUND Nanotechnologies have been use in wide field medical, astronomy, environment, industrial and many more. From the way we communicate, to the methods used to diagnose and treat our illnesses, to the speed with which our computers process data, this new technology promises to enhance our lives in almost limitless ways. Therefore we would like to discuss some of the main issue and further permeate in the breakthrough of nanotechnology. What is a nanotechnology? In the scale of Nano in the prefix of nomenclature is extremely small, which you cannot see through your naked eyes. Microscope will be needed in order to observe object more clearly. Nanotechnology currently is being used to improve existing products and processes, for an example, by strengthening the material used in golf clubs and bicycle frames, creating stain and water repellant clothing and producing wear-resistant paints and coatings. One developing area in nanotechnology is that of self-assembly, whereby materials will be able to grow themselves. One of my theories that I would like to discuss is about the space innovation. Such innovations will not only increase productivity, but also will create new materials in a process known as â€Å"dynamic self-assembly. † The universe is so big that it blows up our mind to try to image how big it is. Human can somehow find a way to explore the universe by the advancement of nanotechnologies. For an example to shoot a robot to a star then it will eventually manufacturing itself and produce much bigger colonies. After a rapid production in certain stages complete civilization. They will often shoot more of them self to other star and repeating process again and again. In the longer term, however, nanotechnology is likely to result in completely revolutionary toward the society. Promising uses of nano scale particles may include the cleanup of heavily polluted sites, which we will have to consider as well. Nanotechnology is more effective diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other diseases, lighting that is twice as energy efficient as what is currently available, cleaner manufacturing techniques and much smaller and more powerful computers. Research indicates that nanotechnology even may help create an alternative fuel to power our automobiles. In the sum of all our research and study I would appropriately consider nanotechnologies of in fact the greatest tool toward humanity next stages of revolution. †¢What is the history of nanotechnology? The term â€Å"nanotechnology† was coined in 1974 by Norio Taniguchi (1912-1999) at the University of Tokyo. It includes a number of technologies that deal with the miniaturization of existing technology down to the scale of a nanometer (one-billionth of a meter) in size, about the size of molecules and atoms. Potential effects of nanotechnology include microcomputers capable of storing trillion of bytes of information in the size of a sugar cube; portable fluids containing nanobots that are programmed to destroy cancer cells; and airborne nanobots that are programmed to rebuild the thinning ozone layer and many more. Scientist today have claimed that nanotechnology was in fact humanity greatest advantages as well as humanity greatest treat if without appropriate and further observe in its major consequences in life and either we will be consume by our own failure toward the disaster that it can cause to us. Facts about nanotechnologies? As we all know our body consist billion of cell and it is systematically and orderly organized that congregate it specific function. Inside our cell it comprises of billion of atom which consists of major element such as carbon, oxygen and hydrogen that appropriately linked together will itself and form specific function and feature. The advancement of nan otechnologies can systematically combine fuse billion compound, atom and element to distinctively form a new cell which about our concern is against the law of nature and moral ethic. This is due to the fact that we can create a life into the world is forbidden and prohibited in many societies around the world. In some fact I would like to discuss, about the discovery about science. Scientist today has claim that we no longer live in one universe but millions of verse which coexist in the ocean of verses and there’s may be have some planetary civilization that we wouldn’t might known. There are many extraordinary and fascinating fact about science including bend through light forming an invisible matter; dimensional world that coexist; in certain fact which claimed that the world we’re living is like a matrix which we are just like a hologram that wouldn’t exist at all and in fact there are mysterious forces keep pulling us for what we believing; small teleport machine which can teleport in atom size particle and maybe a human in few decade to come. There is many potential and credibility toward the advancement of nanotechnologies development. In some fact that I would like to consider is about human enhancement. Nanotechnologies in human enhancement have use to improve human ability such as physical and mental. In some fact that this method have been use in some development country toward the future born generation to trigger the potential of human ability which exited beyond try fold. We will further penetrate and discuss more deeply toward this issue in my relevant discussion. Would human enhancement technologies hinder moral development? Many believe that â€Å"soul-making† is impossible without struggle (Hick, 1966), and achievements ring hollow without sacrifice or effort (President’s Council on Bioethics, 2003); so if technology makes life and competitions easier, then we may lose opportunities to feed and grow our moral character. Nanotechnology was in fact use toward some method to enhance human ability. Nowadays humanity can create powerful drug which enhance human performance. We can discover in the sport area which drug have been used such as steroid to increase athletic performance. Beyond the future we might been able to create indeed more powerful drug which provide human massive of strength. Beyond the future, we might be able to prolog our life for 10 year, 100years or maybe 1000 years. As we know that brain is the primary source which control our aging as certain hormone are secreted. The method behind this is nanotechnology is so small that it can flow through our vein and it can be transfer to the human brain to alter our brain chemical processes which control our aging. †¢What is the futurist predict about the future in nanotechnologies? In the future, as technology becomes more integrated with our bodies, we can expect neural implants of the kind we mentioned above that effectively puts computer chips into our brains or allows devices to be plugged directly into our heads, giving us always on access to information as well as unprecedented information processing powers. New and future virtual reality programs are able to much better simulate activities, for instance, to train law enforcement officers and soldiers in dangerous situations so that they can respond better to similar events in the real world. The advancement of nanotechnologies have enhance human beyond it limitation. One of the main concerns causes the earth to be populated. Also in one of the possibilities is the exploitation and abuse toward this technology. People such as a villain, criminal and hacker will approximately use this for the purpose such as to manipulate people. Other than that what I want to discuses is one of the greatest treat toward the society. One of the biggest concerns toward our society is to have greater awareness about this matter or else humanity which living peacefully today can be destroyed by our own creation. 3. 0CONCLUSION As is the case with most emerging areas of risk, nanotechnology challenges us with many unknowns. These challenges are further complicated by the fact that few risk related prediction have been made scientifically confirmed. If they are not currently exploring its potential, they are likely to do so in the very near future. Because insurers play such a critical part in enabling new and beneficial technologies, it is crucial in development in many sectors such as manufacturers, the government, scientists and regulatory agencies to identify and quantify nanotechnology’s risks. Public response to this new technology, as well as the politician, elitist, and scientist response will afford upon how much accurate information is available. Therefore we as a responsible person must unite and aware toward this greatest issue which effect globally, in order to construct better future for generation to come. Business Routledge Companion of Entrepreneurship

Question: Discuss about the Business Routledge Companion of Entrepreneurship. Answer: Introduction: The process of on-selling can be defined as selling something that has been bought to a second buyer. John and Robyn have created a business that can be on-sold. Although in certain areas or aspects, the business of the couple cannot be on-sold. The business that is developed by aJohn and Robyn is essentially based in the tourism industry. The couple focused their attention on indigenous tourism industry. Any and everybody cannot overtake this. A person of an indigenous origin can only helm it. Since the sentiment of the local people is involved in the local tourism, the responsibility of heading the business cannot be given to any random individual. The person to whom the business is passed on to must have a thorough knowledge of the local culture of the particular region. Since the case study is based on an Australian isle off the coast of New South Wales, the knowledge of the culture of the place is essential to run the business started by John and Robyn in a successful manner. An indigenous couple, john and Robyn started the business. The business essentially was indigenous backpacker tourism. The tourism thrived on the picturesque location and the charm of the ancient folklore around the beautiful place. However, few parts of the business can be on-sold to a third party like few of the resources of the business like the caravan and the van that were rented out to the tourists during the beginning of the business. The entrepreneurs developed a tourism business that cannot be on-sold. Since the business is based on an indigenous culture and folklore, running the business by a non-indigenous individual should result in a non-favorable return to the business and thus the running of the business by a non-indigenous person is not viable. The on-selling of the business set up by John and Robyn, thus, cannot be on-sold. The business has to be handed over to a person or a group of person who have a similar kind of culture and ethnicity to run the business successfu lly. Indigenous entrepreneurs, John and Robyn should have taken these few steps at the initial stage of their business in order to run their business in a successful manner (Chwolka and Raith 2012). They are: In the initial planning of their business, John and Robyn most importantly, should have calculated their investment requirement. In the first stage, the entrepreneur couple should have identified the start-up cost to all the aspect of the business. This step should have been taken after careful planning and research (Stutely 2012). The initial planning of the business should have included the development of a sound and viable marketing strategy. In this competitive market, marketing is a key element to a profitable and a successful company. When it is a question of a start up, it is essential to have a healthy marketing strategy during the initial days of starting up the business (Shaw 2012). The most cost-effective method of marketing the business has to be researched and found out. The marketing plan is essential in the world of today as in the competitive market, marketing a business that is a start up is of the utmost importance. The consumers or in this case, the tourists have to be aware of the business started by these entrepreneurs. Since the location that they chose for starting their business was a rubbish dump previously, nobody would have been interested to explore the picturesque destination (Boone and Kurtz 2013). Thus, a stable and sound marketing plan would have been essential in letting the consumers know about the business start up by the entrepreneur couple (Baker 2014). The next step of the startup was to develop a sound sales plan for the business. The selling price of the business needs to be developed by assessing the idea of the business. The promotion plan needs to be chalked out by the entrepreneurs. The target market of the business in a local, national as well as international level needs to be identified. The identification of the target market is essential because by identifying the target market, appropriate sales plan can be chalked out and thus the business strategy can be laid out for the business (Blank 2012). The break-even point of the business should have been determined for the business. Break-even point in a business is the point where the revenue and the total cost are equal. By calculating and determining the break-even point, the entrepreneur couple could have run a successful business without having much to worry about incurring loss in the business (Tungstedt 2013). The entrepreneur couple, John and Robyn, after their retirement, should engage in a plan that ensures that they are free from the mortgages. They should devise a plan that allows them to free their savings and enjoy their retired life peacefully. Their post-retirement engagement should have a plan to oversee the business set up by them and enjoy the fruits of the toil that they had put for so many years. Bootstrapping is a concept that essentially means the division of the capital by stretching the resources of the business to their optimum capacity. It is one of the most efficient and cost-effective ways to guarantee that a business has a cash flow that is positive to the business (Harvard Business Review, 2017). There are many options to finance a business. Bootstrapping is one of the many ways to finance a business. In the context of a start up business, bootstrapping means the commencement of business without the aid of venture capital investment but only with the sole help of all the financial and other resources that are available. The three stages that a bootstrapped company goes through are accumulating the seed money, getting money from the customers and circulating a word about the credit. Bootstrapping in the initial few days of the business is essential as during the initial days of the business, maximum utilization and division of capital of a business (Schwienbacher 201 4). The positive aspects regarding the indigenous operators when they got together for the first time are mentioned as under, The networking ability of the indigenous operators started bringing additional business in a collective manner within the group in comparison to the referrals from external non-indigenous tourist operators. The networking started occurring in a more close manner, and one anothers traits were getting marketed for ensuring competition as well as to strengthen diversity. The indigenous operators also assisted one another in knowledge relating to alternative energy, wind as well as solar power adaptation. The indigenous operators developed ways by which local spring water will get accessed as well as get purified in regard to their businesses The indigenous operators developed ways that will be building self-composting toilets to reduce pollution as well as human waste. Both the indigenous operators started carrying a collection of anothers brochures for ensuring that tourists will be experiencing more than a single operator in the journey through their lands. The negative aspects regarding the indigenous operators when they got together for the first time are mentioned as under, In the winter season, the indigenous operators started facing the problem associated with cash crunch and there were no reserves of cash in respect of significant safeguarding. There was the occurrence of severe storms as well, during the winter and as a result, the indigenous operators were faced with harsh water damage. Moreover, they did not have any funds for repairing the damage at the beginning of the new season. The indigenous operators faced unfriendly cooperation from the bank when they decided to expand their businesses that might be based on different aspects. There might be a possibility of fledging tourism venture related with tribal land that didnt possess a clear title and therefore, its mortgaging could not be done to the bank in respect of security, there might be a possibility of the indigenous operators lacking in sustainable flow of cash as well as additional assets that might be utilized as security. Sustainability in business can assist in addressing the concerns regarding the society while offering profit-making scopes in respect of the entrepreneurs. Sustainability in business is majorly related with the changing practices regarding businesses. The sustainable businesses that are considered successful are focusing towards the aspects of creating new products, services or practices that will be addressing or mitigating concerns regarding environmental as well as social aspects in new manners (Dean, 2014). Therefore, successful implementation relating with sustainable business practices will be relying on entrepreneurship as well as innovation. Entrepreneurship as well as innovation is having relevance in various sustainable contexts regarding business. These are considered to be the basic aspects regarding the success associated with the start-up organizations that offers innovative solutions for meeting challenges associated with environmental as well as social aspects. The organizations are undertaking sustainability in the entrepreneurship in respect of different reasons that includes the enhancement of their brand name as well as reputation (Rajasekaran, 2013). It is also required getting benefitted through financial aspects by becoming market leaders regarding business practices, which will be reducing influences regarding environmental as well as societal aspects. For being increasingly sustainable, the entrepreneurs are required recognizing the scopes primarily and then making innovation by stating a business solution that will be providing an attractive option for the consumers. The business solution is however, considered being the primary step and after that the entrepreneur is required investigating the economic worth as well as business plan that emanates from that scope (Schaltegger, 2016). The entrepreneurs are required researching the market for understanding in what ways their potential products or services will be providing worth of the customers that will be reflecting the product value or service value in respect of the customers (Provasnek, 2016). For instance, as per the case analysis on entrepreneurship, there occurred a concern relating with the fishing business. To solve the matter, it was required maintaining stringent catch limits for ensuring the reef stocks as well as making sure that customers will understand the cultural inferences relating to sustainability. For better diversification of the small tourism operation, the following steps can be taken into consideration, It is required observing what needs to be invested both in terms of finances as well as the availability of the resources. This requires considering the primary funds required for the smooth functioning of the expansion. There is also the requirement for considering the funds that are required for supporting the expansion, the new staffs as well as other aspects. It also needs to be taken into consideration every resource that will get used which will be maintaining as well as building the present business scenario (Weinzimmer, 2015). Finding the possibilities The possibilities can be found out through the horizontal aspects as well as vertical aspects in which the vertical aspects will be determining the ways associated with advancing to the next product level and the horizontal aspects will be determining the offering that are being made by the competitors and which product or service is offering a complementary fit (Battisti, 2013) It is very exciting to experience new developments, new directions as well as new experiences but the entrepreneurs are strongly recommended not to lose focus regarding the maintenance as well as the continuous consideration that the present business will be requiring. Therefore, it is recommended that the entrepreneurs should be getting efficient people for assisting them in managing the new development regarding the small tourism operation as well as the initial work of the small tourism operation (Stoner, 2015). Hence, it can be inferred that diversification will be taking the small tourism operation into new territories, building a greater scope, as well as increasing the long-term profits but all of this will can be actualized if done in a correct manner (Piza, 2016). Therefore, it is highly recommended that everything is carried out in a correct manner regarding the business. References: Baker, M.J., 2014.Marketing strategy and management. Palgrave Macmillan.
